Project Summary: Client: Board of Management Maree National School Architect: Simon J Kelly & Ptns, Waterside. Engineers: Tom Mackey, Malone O Regan, Mill Street. Quantity Surveyor: AECOM, Kirwans Lane, Galway. Contract Sum: €2,100,000 Completion Date: May 2015 Details: This project involved the construction of a new national school at Maree, Oranmore, Co Galway. The project, included the demolition of the existing school and the construction of a new 1900m2 two-storey school incorporating 10 new classrooms, support rooms, staff and resource rooms and a large general purpose room. It includes a full mechanical and electrical package including the installation of a passenger lift. Externally it involves the installation of a waste water treatment plant, rainwater harvesting system and storm water attenuation systems. Extensive hard and soft landscaping were undertaken including new roads and car parking and pedestrian footpaths. The project was completed on time and within the budget.
