Project Summary:
Client: Tom Corley & Claire Williams
Architects: Garbhan Doran Assoc, Dublin.
Engineers: John Britton Assoc.
Completion Date: Dec 2013
Details: This project involved the construction of a unique two storey house on a rural site near Atherny, Co Galway. The house was designed in a contemporary country house style and featured fine architectural detailing including limestone cills, barges and plinths, alu-clad windows in a distinctive long narrow style, mill finish aluminium box gutters and clean nap plaster finish. Internally the house was finished in a simple style featuring shadow gap ceiling detailing to the entire ground floor, tall, doors and joinery and a feature double sided stove in the main living & kitchen area. The house was airtight and insulated to a high level to such an extent that the back boiler on the stove provided all the heating to the radiators for the entire house.
